SEX OFFENDERS AT CLARK CO. JAIL

A couple of high profile sex offenders are currently residing at the Clark County Jail.Deputies arrested 54-year-old David La Franchi in Colorado back in February.
Records indicate La Franchi operated under a number of aliases. He was convicted in 1991 of 1st Degree Sexual Assault of a Child. Then, in 2004, Clark County issued an arrest warrant when he failed to report as a sex offender.
La Franchi went on a multi-state crime spree using a number of stolen identities, including an identity of a Colorado man who died.
La Franchi was returned to Clark County last week, and will make an initial appearance in May.
Also, a Plover man charged with four counts of child pornography is at the Jail.
According to the U.S. Attorney's office, 45-year-old Alfred Shippy was indicted by a Federal Grand Jury on the counts.
The indictment alleges between March and September of last year, Shippy used a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct with the purpose of photographing it.
If convicted on all counts, Shippy faces a maximum of 50 years in prison.
The charges came from a joint investigation between Plover Police and the FBI.
Records also indicate Shippy was charged with over 40 counts of possession of child pornography in Grant Co. back in 2001. He spent about one year in jail on those charges.
He?s in the Clark County Jail because of overcrowding in Portage County facility.
