BURNING RESTRICTIONS IN PLACE
Friday, April 10th, 2009 -- 11:33 AM
The Department of Natural Resources has issued a burning ban for some Wisconsin counties where there's a high fire danger.Barron, Chippewa, Clark, Eau Claire, Jackson and Rusk counties are included in the ban. Area fire chiefs in Dunn County have issued a similar ban.
DNR forestry leader Randy Schott in Black River Falls says low humidity will create an even higher danger this weekend.
The DNR has responded to 20 fires so far this season and assisted in a 600-acre fire this week between Menomonie and Elk Mound that apparently was ignited by fireworks.
