STUDY: SMOKING BAN CLEARS AIR
Friday, January 23rd, 2009 -- 9:45 AM
A smoking ban in Marshfield has helped clear the air in bars and restaurants. The Wood County Health Department says air pollution is down 95% at those establishments since the implementation of a smoke-free ordinance.
Fine particulate matter from cigarette smoke was measured on April 11, prior to the ordinance, and again on Nov. 28, well after the ordinance was in place.
State legislators will likely consider a statewide smoking ban at some point this year.
