Clark County Community Foundation Announces Recipient of 2020 Giving Circle Grant Allocation

Thursday, December 17th, 2020 -- 11:04 AM

The Clark County Community Foundation Inc. would like to congratulate the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Clark County for being selected as the recipient of this year’s Giving Circle Grant Allocation.

The Foundation created the Giving Circle (GC) Fund in 2019 as another way for generous donors to support the needs and concerns of Clark County, but in a format that allowed more individual  participation in the grant allocation process. The GC Fund brings like-minded people and  organizations together, who then “pool” their donations together and democratically select grant  recipient(s) that help make positive changes in Clark County.

Each GC Donor contributes $100 to the Fund, which is accumulated October 1st through September 30th of the following year. One half of the accumulated funds are distributed to three Foundation funds (i.e., Community, Scholarship, and operating Funds) with the other half distributed based on ballots cast by GC Donors for their favorite eligible nonprofit organization.

GC Donors nominate one or more nonprofit organizations they want to be considered for current year funding. Nominations are accepted and a ballot is provided to each GC Donor in September.  Then, the GC Donor Annual Meeting is held where the nominated nonprofits are featured and the  ballot results are announced.

Under “normal” circumstances, they would have held their GC Annual Meeting in October; instead, due  to COVID-19, they were forced to improvise and conduct the business of the GC remotely. They look forward to the 2021 Giving Circle Annual Meeting and a chance to meet in person, learn more about each nominated nonprofit organization and deliver the grant allocation awards in person.

Until then, best wishes to ADRC of Clark County as they continue to serve the citizens and communities of Clark County.
