Granton School Board Reviews COVID Protocol

-The Granton School Board reviewed their COVID Protocol at their meeting on Monday.

The board reviewed the COVID Protocol and took no action since the Governor’s Mask Mandate is in effect until January 19th. The board will continue to review Administrative and Health Team recommendations for COVID Protocol monthly during the 2020-21 school year.

The board also approved the Boiler Plan Control Update for an amount of $12,696, approved the Neillsville/Granton Football Cooperative Agreement for the 2021-2023  seasons and the board reviewed, updated and approved two School Board Policies presented related to Instruction. They  also approved the updated Organization Chart Policy in Chapter 1.

The board also discussed District Administrator Evaluation Tools and tabled the item and approved the Mass Immunization Site Memorandum of Understanding with the Clark County Health  Department.

The board also heard several presentations.  4th Grade Teacher, Jessica Schier, delivered a presentation on Virtual Engagement including how she  teaches students both face-to-face and through live and recorded virtual platforms. She was praised by the school  board for her excellent work. Her presentation drew applause from the audience.

Also, Interim District Administrator James Kuchta introduced the School Resource Officer, Deputy Dylan Baxter.  Deputy Baxter gave a brief biography and talked about the grant that pays for his position in the 2020-21 school year for Granton, Neillsville and St. John’s Lutheran School in Neillsville.

The board also heard from the Student Council Representative.  Tanner Friedemann reported on student activities including the FFA Fruit Sale, the Student Council Butter Braid Fundraiser, NHS Food Drive and the Spanish Club Candy Bar Fundraiser for their trip to Belise.

The board also heard the Administrators’ Reports.  Principal Amanda Kraus updated the board on Virtual Learning/Reinforcement Day participation for November 30th and the Student and Staff members of the Month.

Mr. Kuchta updated the board on the maintenance and facilities including the mowing/trimming bids for 2021-23 will be coming out soon.  Also, three quotes were received for new lunch tables. The lowest bid for 6 tables was $9,480 from Marshfield.  Book & Stationery was accepted with two other bids both coming in at over $11,000. Federal COVID funds will cover  the tables.

A quote was also received for sensor flush valves in the Elementary Boys Restroom at $4,850. Federal COVID funds will also cover this expense.  Meetings were held regarding the Lower Level Elementary Parking Lot and a plan to move forward with project  estimates and a plan design.

Finally, a donation was given from a community member to pay off all negative lunch account balances total, which came to over $1113, and Granton Community Child Care Center door/entry upgrades will total $8,215 according to a quote received from Quality Door. Revenue & expenses for daycare, July-November, were slightly positive with a total of just over  $61,000 each.

Mr. Kuchta also shared a transcribed radio interview news article from the Central Wisconsin Broadcasting Radio Station website of the interview with Kim Aumann, Instructional & Behavior Coach. He also shared a schedule for weekly interviews with WCCN.  Lastly, Mr. Kuchta noted that the district is working on creating job descriptions for many positions to communicate clear  expectations.
