Several community members, pickleball enthusiasts, businesses, and city leaders attended the Pickleball Groundbreaking event held on Wednesday, May 1st, at Braem Park in Marshfield.

Parks and Recreation Director Justin Casperson coined the Pickleball Complex as the first phase or “bookend” of the overall park renovations. The 12 new outdoor pickleball courts will be located where the old tennis courts once laid.

According to Casperson, future park renovations will follow, including a new softball field, playground, shelter, updated bathrooms, and parking lots. “Pickleball will be another new attraction and sport for our community, and Braem Park is the perfect location,” commented Lois TeStrake, Mayor of Marshfield.

On behalf of Forward Bank, Bill Sennholz, President and CEO, announced the name of the new complex, Move Forward Pickleball Complex. Bill and his team represented Forward Bank at the event.

At the same time, Bill commented on how they believe they are “not only investing in infrastructure but also the well-being of our families and future generations.” Perry Stargardt, Marshfield Area Pickleball President, gave an enthusiastic thank you to the community, donors, city leaders, and businesses for making this dream a reality.

“We will have the best pickleball complex in the area, possibly the state,” stated Stargardt. The new Move Forward Pickleball Complex will bring economic growth and visitors to Marshfield through open court time, events, tournaments, and leagues.

The estimated completion date of the complex will be this fall, with construction being completed by Marawood Construction Company of Marshfield. Donations are still being accepted by the Marshfield Area Community Foundation for the new Braem Park Move Forward Pickleball Complex.

Those interested in being part of the founding donors and wish to be listed on the donor wall and/or contribute for any of the remaining naming rights, may contact Stacey Schultz at 715-384-9029 or Michelle Boernke at 715-897-5920.
