Neillsville School Board Approves Officer Position at Recent Meeting

The Neillsville School Board began their meeting on Monday selecting their officers.

Sue Voigt was selected as President, Dewey Poeschel for Vice President, Peggy Grap for Treasurer, and Deanna Heiman for Clerk. Deanna Heiman was also selected as the CESA 10 delegate for 2024-2025, Peggy Grap as the WASB delegate for 2024-2025, and Paul Opelt as the alternate WASB delegate for 2024-2025.

Lance Gregorich from CESA 10, and Building and Grounds Director Mark Spencer, then presented a building projects update. The Board also approved the Aspirus Signature Health Plan renewal, the Aspirus Freedom Plan renewal, and the Delta Dental Insurance renewal.

The Board also approved the 2024-2025 Project Search contract, the Neillsville Improvement Corporation 2024 membership renewal, and approved the student club name change from Friends of Rachel to the Neillsville High School Connections Club and the Neillsville Middle School Connections Club.

The Board also approved the out-of-state field trip request from Michelle Anding to travel to Seattle, Washington, on June 28th - July 3. The Board also approved a few donations including a 6”x 9” booklet envelopes from Natalie Guzman, the Spirit Card donation from Unity Bank in the amount of $1,311.80, and the monetary donation from Kirk and Nancy Rodman to the Kindness in the Community Club.

For employment items, the Board approved the resignation of Allie Laufenberg from her administrative secretary position. The Board approved the retirement of David Matson from his teaching position. The Board approved the hiring of Sam Warden for the health office assistant position and Lexi Opelt for the elementary teacher position.

The Board also approved the bus driver contract renewals for 2024-2025, approved the salary schedule for confidential staff, approved the teacher contracts for the 2024-2025 school year, approved the amended contract for Jill Neville, approved the amended contract for Chelsea Opelt, and approve the requested contract for Amy Arndt.

The Board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Elementary Principal Marcy Kunze reported on:

  • Attendance;
  • PBIS;
  • Safe Sitter Essentials course;
  • Summer school scheduling;
  • 4-year-old kindergarten registration;
  • Forward testing;
  • FastBridge screening;
  • And upcoming elementary events.

Middle School Principal Kory Poeschel reported on:

  • Attendance;
  • Monthly character trait;
  • Forward testing;
  • FastBridge testing;
  • Field trips;
  • And upcoming important middle school dates.

High School Principal Craig Anderson reported on:

  • Attendance;
  • Academic awards update;
  • 2024-2025 scheduling;
  • FFA updates;
  • FCCLA updates;
  • ACP updates;
  • And upcoming events.

District Administrator John Gaier reported on:

  • A thank you to business mentors involved in the ACP program;
  • Library week;
  • Neillsville Social Media Report Card;
  • Notification of the CESA 10 Annual Convention;
  • Wisconsin school referendum results;
  • A letter supporting the USDA distance learning grant;
  • Article regarding chronic absenteeism in schools;
  • And revenue from Medicaid reimbursement claims.
