Neillsville Woman Sentenced for 2nd Offense OWI

Tuesday, November 28th, 2023 -- 9:01 AM

A Neillsville woman facing charges of 2nd OWI with children in the vehicle was sentenced in Eau Claire County Court on Monday.

According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, around 9:52pm on December 16th of 2022, they received a report of a vehicle run-off at Markgraff Road and Highway 12 in Eau Claire County. When a Trooper arrived, he noticed signs of impairment in the driver. He began a standardized field sobriety test.

The driver, Destinee Link, was arrested on suspicion of OWI. The children in the vehicle, ages three and two months, were released to an adult family member. Link was taken to a hospital for an evidentiary test. She was then taken to the Eau Claire County Jail.

Link was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, OWI 2nd offense. Another charge was dismissed and read in. She was sentenced to 40 days in jail and fines/forfeitures of $1,555. She also had her driver’s license revoked for 16 months and must have an ignition interlock device for 16 months.
