Neillsville School Board Approves Academic and Career Plan and More

The Neillsville School Board approved the Academic and Career Plan at their meeting on Monday.

They also approved the CESA Technology Support Contract as presented and approved the budget modifications for the 2023-2024 school year as presented. The Board also heard a building and grounds update from Building and Grounds Director Mark Spencer.

The Board also approved an early graduation request, approved the Memorandum of Understanding with the Orenda Center as presented, and approved the purchase of a 2021 Chevy Silverado from Gross Motors in the amount of $46,400 as presented.

The Board also approved some donations including $6,000 from Gross Motors for two advertisement squares on the varsity football field scoreboard as presented, $5,500 from Neillsville Youth Football Organization for the varsity football field scoreboard, and a donation of school supplies valued at $200 from Krohn Clinic of Black River Falls as presented.

In employment matters, the Board approved the resignations, as presented, of Jacob Bue from his custodial position and Tricia Shilts from her bus driving position.

The Board approved the hiring, as presented, of Theresa Lezza for the teaching assistant position, Tommy Friemoth for the weight room supervisor position, and Shannon Funston for the assistant softball coaching position. The Board also approved the initial adoption of Policy KBG as presented.

The Board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. The board was provided a report from Elementary Principal Marcy Kunze on:

  • Attendance;
  • The monthly character trait;
  • Elementary student council, elementary guidance program;
  • 1st quarter celebration;
  • Veterans’ Day;
  • And the 2023-24 Crystal Apple Teacher of Distinction.

The board was provided a report from Middle School Principal Kory Poeschel on:

  • Attendance;
  • The monthly character trait;
  • End of 1st quarter;
  • Warrior Pride tickets;
  • Chorus concert;
  • Middle school boys’ basketball;
  • FFA;
  • Dress up days;
  • And the November 3rd in-service.

The board was provided a report from High School Principal Craig Anderson on:

  • Attendance;
  • The Crystal Apple Teacher of Distinction;
  • Upcoming Schuster Park decorating;
  • Trunk junk clean out;
  • Music department updates;
  • Agriculture department updates;
  • STEM updates;
  • Upcoming Jostens visit;
  • And winter sports.

Finally, District Administrator John Gaier reported on:

  • Thank you cards;
  • CWETN Administrator Meeting agenda and minutes;
  • And an article regarding school vaccines.
