Wisconsin Farmers Make Good Progress in Their Fields Last Week

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) Wisconsin farmers made good progress on their harvest and fieldwork during the week ending November 12, 2023, thanks to a drier week across most of the state, according to the Wisconsin Ag Connection.

According to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service, there were 5.4 days suitable for fieldwork during the week. Farmers were able to make good progress on the corn harvest, with 66% of the crop now harvested. This is 1 day behind last year and the five-year average.

The soybean harvest is also well underway, with 89% of the crop now harvested. This is 11 days behind last year, but only 1 day behind the average. Winter wheat emergence is also progressing well, with 90% of the crop now emerged.

This is 4 days behind last year, but 10 days ahead of the average. Winter wheat conditions are also good, with 68% of the crops rated good to excellent. Fall tillage is behind schedule, with only 54% of the crop now tilled. This is 10 days behind last year and 2 days behind the average.

Overall, Wisconsin farmers are making good progress on their harvest and fieldwork. The drier week conditions have been favorable for fieldwork, and farmers are taking advantage of this opportunity to get ahead.
