Legislature Passes Bill to Overhaul Wisconsin Liquor Laws

(Ted Ehlen, WRN) Changes are coming to liquor regulations in Wisconsin.
The state legislature passed a bipartisan bill Tuesday to revamp the state's liquor laws. The measure would lead the state’s Department of Revenue to create a new division to supervise and enforce liquor laws, and force special event venues, commonly referred to as wedding barns, to either limit the number of times they serve alcohol in a year or obtain a liquor license.
The liquor law overhauls passed by the state Senate closely match those passed by the state Assembly in June. The bill, which was supported by many in the Wisconsin liquor industry as well as the powerful Tavern League of Wisconsin, next heads to the desk of Governor Tony Evers.
