New Pizza Hut in Marshfield Will Have Slight Delay in Opening Date

(Jamie Rokus, Marshfield News Herald) The opening for a new Pizza Hut in the city has been delayed.

According to Jamie Rokus with the Marshfield News Herald, a spokesperson for PH Hospitality Group, which operates the restaurant, told the Marshfield News-Herald Wednesday that construction crews encountered "some unexpected conditions in the field" that have slowed progress.

The spokesperson previously told the News-Herald they planned to open the restaurant in mid-November, but on Wednesday said they are now looking toward the end of the month. The new Marshfield Pizza Hut at 2112 N. Central Ave. is located in front of Menard's and next door to Applebee's.

The restaurant will provide delivery and carryout service for its guests and will be a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility, the spokesperson said. Pizza Hut lost its lease at its former location at 1407 N. Central Ave. and closed its doors there Aug. 28.

According to city officials, the former Pizza Hut restaurant will become a Valvoline Express. The building at 1407 N. Central Ave., the former home of Pizza Hut, was built as a Rocky Rococo pizza restaurant that opened in February 1985.

In September 1989, Pizza Hut announced it would take over the restaurant, and opened there two months later. It was Pizza Hut's second location in the city at that time, as another Pizza Hut restaurant operated on the city's south side at 1004 S. Central Ave.
