Marathon County Man Sentenced for 5th OWI

(Mike Leischner, WSAU) A Marathon County man accused of his 5th OWI after officers found him sleeping in his vehicle was sentenced on Thursday.

According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, Jonathan Huff will serve a year and a half in prison and another three years on probation. The 41-year-old was arrested in the fall of 2021 after officers found him passed out in his vehicle with the engine running, the vehicle in reverse, and his foot on the break.

When officers woke him up he was confused, thinking he had made his way to Merrill when instead he was parked in a stranger's driveway just outside of Wausau. A drug dog also found meth in his possession.

As part of a plea deal that was announced on Thursday, nearly 20 other charges ranging from retail theft to criminal damage to property were dismissed. The hearing closed a handful of cases against Huff, who will also have his license revoked and pay fines.
