Osseo-Fairchild FCCLA Looking for Donations of Gently Used Footwear

The Osseo-Fairchild School District FCCLA has an unusual request to help them with their fundraising efforts.

They are collecting gently used footwear to support micro-entrepreneurs in Haiti, Honduras, Columbia and Pakistan. Would you be willing to collect these items for them to help their fundraiser? It also keeps shoes out of the landfill which take about 100 years to decompose.

About 70 percent of the world population reuses or re-purposes recycled shoes and clothing. They believe the Osseo-Fairchild community can make a big impact on the planet and for less fortunate countries. How does this help their organization? They make about 40 cents per pound they donate, but also helps them make a difference in the world.

Gently used shoes, boots, sandals, slippers of all sizes can be donated. Please consider asking family and friends at your holiday gatherings to bring what they no longer need and could donate to a great cause.

There will be drop boxes at many area businesses in the near future. In the meantime, feel free to send donations to the school with your children or drop them off in the office for the FCCLA.
