Donations Needed for Owners of Small Catering Business

Joy and Jimmy Thomas have a small catering business operation called Jamaican Kitchen.

On August 24th, they were at the Central Wisconsin State Fair with their Jamaican Kitchen booth. A friend, who happened to be a police officer, had stopped to talk to Joy and Jimmy. While doing so he noticed Joy showing signs of a stroke.

Taking immediate action Joy was rushed to the ER in Marshfield. There she was treated for her symptoms. The decision was made to transfer her to UW Madison Hospital via medical transport. Once stabilized she was transported back to Marshfield to begin rehabilitation.

Unfortunately, Joy suffered multiple brain bleeds which resulted in a transfer to Medical ICU where she was kept for about a month. Because of these events, Joy has some mobility limitations, but her speech is becoming easier for her.

Joy and Jimmy’s modest income from their catering business has suffered. In addition to the initial emergency charge, her stay in ICU (with ongoing charges ranging on average 2-3 thousand dollars per day) for over 4 weeks and continued need for hospital care is creating a huge medical bill.

There is a long road to recovery ahead. Before she can go home Joy will need considerable inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation. Please consider a donation to her fund and help us realize our goal of $100,000. Donations of any amount are appreciated.

Donations may be mailed, delivered inside the Credit Union or in the drive-thru lane. Please make sure to designate it is for the fund: “A Joyous Offering for Joy”
