Former Leader of Wausau Church Sentenced for Life in Prison for Sexual Assault

(Mike Leischner, WSAU) A former Leader of a Wausau Church has been handed a life prison sentence for sexually assaulting a teenage girl- when he was already on the state's sex offender registry.

It began when Delfino Figueroa started visiting the girl's father in 20-14 after he had a medical procedure, and continued for several years thereafter. She came forward last winter after her 18th birthday, triggering charges of repeated sexual assault of the same child with a persistent repeater modifier. That put the possibility of a life sentence on the table, which was handed down by a judge on Tuesday.

Figueroa- who is also known as "pastor ray" and Delfino O Day Figueroa, has been on the sex offender registry since the mid 90s and Marathon County court records from the last 20 years show he's been convicted of misdemeanor sexual assault and disorderly conduct in a domestic abuse setting as well.
