Former Colby Woman Sentenced to Life in Prison for Killing Her Husband Has Died in Prison

Friday, July 21st, 2023 -- 11:01 AM

A former Colby woman sentenced to life in prison for killing her husband has died just one year into her sentence.

Cindy Schulz-Juedes was charged with murdering husband Ken Juedes back in December of 2019. Ken was found dead back in August of 2006 from two shotgun wounds. He was found by Cindy and she had long been a person of interest.

New details regarding the case is what finally brought the charges forward in 2019. In October of 2021, a jury found Schulz-Juedes guilty of 1st-degree intentional homicide and obstructing officers. In June of 2022, she was sentenced to life in prison.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, Schulz-Juedes was found unresponsive in her cell. Efforts to revive her were unsuccessful. The death is under investigation by the Fond du Lac Police Department.

The investigation is in its preliminary stages and remains an active investigation; however, it is being treated as a homicide investigation.
