Marshfield Medical Center-Neillsville recently bestowed their 2023 Rural Health Ambassador Award to Chris Keller, Emergency Department Supervisor and Trauma Program Coordinator.

Chris has been with Marshfield Medical Center for 5 years. The award recognizes health care employees at RWHC hospitals who have gone above the call of duty in promoting their respective organizations, while making significant contributions to rural health.

Each recipient demonstrates a history of fostering positive communication and relations within the hospital's respective service area by: serving on community boards/service organizations; taking advantage of volunteer or public speaking opportunities; and supporting community health activities beyond the scope of the hospital.

On a daily basis, Chris reviews all trauma patients that have come through their Emergency Department. He is also responsible for the supervisor duties of the Emergency Department and helps staff their Emergency Department. Chris is on the Regional Trauma Advisory Board (RTAC.)

He also helps organize injury prevention booths at local events and has set-up booths and training to promote the Stop the Bleed program. Working with various workplaces in Clark County, he has taught employees Stop the Bleed training. He works with the Clark County Health Department to help promote programs like Safe Kids of Wood and Clark County.

He utilized grant funding for things like bike helmets. This allows the Safe Kids program to hand out free bike helmets when they discuss bike safety with children in the community. Chris is a local volunteer EMT with Clark County EMS and has been for the past 21 years.
