Marshfield Broadcasting Earns Several Honors

Marshfield Broadcasting, a division of the City of Marshfield's Communications Department, has earned honors in this year’s Best of the Midwest Media Fest held by Wisconsin Community Media on Thursday, May 4th in Madison.

Each year, Wisconsin Community Media member community media centers judge submitted works that aired on local public access television/online and radio stations, with winners receiving awards at the Spring Conference and Awards Banquet. Top honors go to:

  • Local community producer Mike Weigel, who earned an Excellence Award for his public service announcement video production, "Spare Change”;
  • City of Marshfield Communications Director Tom Loucks and volunteer Mike Weigel earned an achievement award for the Marshfield School Board Candidate Forum;
  • City of Marshfield Communications Specialist David Ballerstein earned an achievement award for Hub City Times Presents television series;
  • Ballerstein earned an achievement award for a PSA on the United Way 2022 campaign video;
  • Loucks earned a merit award for Columbus Catholic graduation video coverage;
  • Ballerstein earned a merit award for the Marshfield Now television series;
  • Loucks earned a merit award for a documentary for a business feature of the month video program;
  • My HomeTown community producer Mike Weigel earned a merit award for a PSA for Bad Day;
  • Weigel earned a merit award for Performing Arts "Make Music Day;"
  • Weigel earned a merit award for the LIVE production of Calvary Bible Church service.

Marshfield Broadcasting recently changed its format, with three brand new channels streaming on Roku, Apple-TV, Amazon Fire TV, and www. marshfieldbroadcasting.com and on cable television.

The new channels are Producers Channel 989, Marshfield Now Channel 990, and Government Channel 991, driven by community volunteers, communications staff, and shared content from other local community media centers around the United States.

Marshfield Broadcasting community media access stations serve the community producers and residents while supporting the First Amendment right to free speech. The center aims for the public to become engaged in their community by watching and producing programs.
