Granton School Board Elects Officers

The Granton School Board elected their officers at their meeting on Monday.

Theresa Hasz was selected as President, Mark Elmhorst as Vice-President, Doug Eichten as Clerk, and Sheryl Young as Treasurer. Dennis Kuehn was selected as the CESA 10 Annual Convention Representative.

The Board then approved the continuation of the CEP program for the final year of their four-year cycle, approved the Security Health Plan quote for the 2023-24 school year, and approved the Student Assurance Services as the student accident insurance company for the 2023-24 school year.

The Board also approved the Open Enrollment Applications for 2023-24, approved the 2023-24 WIAA High School Membership renewal, approved School Board Policy Chapter 3, Section E as presented, and approved the 2023-24 CESA 10 Service Contract.

Following closed session, the Board approved 2023-24 teacher contracts and bus driver contracts, approved the 2023-24 Administrative Contract for Nancy Popp, and approved the 2023-24 Administrative Contract for Amanda Kraus.

For the Spotlight on Education, Ag. Teacher Katie Reider presented a slideshow on the FFA Programs. For the Students of the Month, the characteristic/trait focus was perseverance.

Students of the Month are Crystal Hernandez for Elementary, Isaac Oliver for Middle School, and Laura Vine for High School. Sheila Kind is the Staff Person of the Month. The Board also heard the Student Council Report. Student Council Representative, Jordan Berg, reported on:

  • Teacher appreciation week;
  • National Honor Society volunteered at the Clark County Humane Society and at the Apex Angels and Warriors Wolf Sanctuary;
  • National Honor Society also hosted the spring blood drive and had a good turnout;
  • Track season is winding down, everyone has PR’d at least once this season, 17 kids out for track;
  • Track conference and regional competitions are coming up in the next two weeks;
  • Baseball and Softball seasons are also winding down for those middle school and high school athletes;
  • Elk's awards for the seniors were recently presented to the following students:
  1. Art/Drama - Tyler Carlsen;
  2. Music - Abby Woller;
  3. Science/Agriculture - Lizzy Reinart;
  4. Technology Education - Diego Mendoza;
  5. Social Studies/History - Alex Gardner;
  6. Business/Computers - Olivia Piskow;
  7. And Leadership - Alexis Pongratz.

The Board also heard some Committee Reports. Mark Elmhorst reported the Sweet Treat Social is coming up June 10th. Crystal Apple Awards were held last week and Mr. Radloff was honored.

Principal Amanda Kraus updated the board regarding:

  • 2023-24 Staff Professional development plan;
  • Elk’s Banquet was held last week;
  • Working on a safety grant with IT director, adding cameras, new bell system.

Superintendent James Kuchta updated the board on information including:

  • Final membership reports from Membership audit were received;
  • And the superintendent received a plaque from CESA 10 Administrators for years of service.
