Wood County Sheriff's Department's K9 Units Perform Well at Jessiffany Canine Services, LLC Recertification and Seminar

The Wood County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit recently spent three days at Jessiffany Canine Services, LLC annual recertification/seminar.

Our department’s five K9’s and their handlers worked hard in events to include; area searches, odor detection, handler protection/bite work, obedience and an obstacle course. Over 40 K9’s competed in these events. Sergeant Brandon Christianson with K9 Bingo and K9 Ace and Sergeant Justus Arendt with K9 Timo brought home a few new pieces of hardware:

• Sergeant Arendt / K9 Timo got 1st place - Hard Dog/Fast Dog;
• 2nd Place - Open Area Narcotic Detection.
• Sergeant Christianson / K9 Ace got 3rd Place- Narcotic Search Door Bottoms;
• And 3rd Place- Narcotic Detection Luggage.
• Sergeant Christianson / K9 Bingo got Top overall German Shepherd Team, 2nd Place overall;
• 1st Place-Explosive Detection Scramble;
• 2nd Place - Explosive Detection Luggage;
• And 2nd Place- Hard Dog/Fast Dog.
