Nekoosa Woman Found Dead in the Wisconsin River in Wood County

Monday, May 1st, 2023 -- 2:00 PM

On April 29, 2023, at approximately 12:48 p.m., Wood County Central Dispatch received the report of a person in the Wisconsin River just north of Wakely Road in the Township of Saratoga, Wood County.

The caller was able to bring the person to shore. First responders arrived on scene and assessed the person. The person was deceased, which was determined to be from drowning. No suspicious circumstances exist. No additional information will be released. The victim was identified as 58-year-old Nancy Brost of Nekoosa.
