(Bob Hague, WRN) A new report indicates that roughly one-third of Wisconsin households are struggling to afford basic needs.
The United Way of Wisconsin’s (Wisconsin Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed) Report helps identify those above the poverty line but not making enough money to meet the local cost of living.
Using data from 2021, it found 34% of households face issues paying for housing, child care, health care and food. Eleven percent live below the poverty line, while 23% are above the poverty line but below the average cost of living in a range the report classifies as the ALICE threshold.
