Neillsville School Board Elects Officers, Approves Construction Management Contract, and More

The Neillsville School Board elected their officers at their meeting on Monday.

This is done after every April Election when a School Board Member us up for re-election. Sue Voigt was elected as President, Dewey Poeschel was elected Vice President, Peggy Grap was elected as Treasurer, and Deanna Heiman was elected as Clerk.

Deanna Heiman was also approved as the CESA 10 delegate for 2023-2024, Paul Opelt was approved as the WASB delegate for 2023-2024, and Dewey Poeschel was approved as the alternate WASB delegate for 2023-2024.

The Board also approved the Construction Management Contract with CESA 10 for 2% of the total project cost as presented, approved the bid from Swanson Flooring in the amount of $2.30/square foot for conference room flooring (materials only) as presented, and approved the bid from Grand Flooring & Design in the amount of $5,320.48 for Board Office carpet and installation.

The Board also approved the bid from Streich Equipment in the amount of $65,673 for the elementary kitchen upgrade, approved the Aspirus Signature Health Plan as presented, approved the Aspirus Health Plan Freedom Plan as presented, and approved the Delta Dental Insurance renewal as presented.

The Board also approved the Elementary Student Council application as presented, approved the Friends of Rachel Club application as presented, and approved the Neillsville Improvement Corporation 2023 membership as presented.

The Board also approved the out-of-state field trip for the STEM Club to Anoka, MN, approved the donation of bat holders for the high school softball dugouts from Kranzations Metal Design & More as presented, approved the donation from the Booster Club for fieldhouse concession stand updates as presented, and approved the monetary donation from CVTC in the amount of $500 as presented.

In employment matters, the Board approved the resignation of Anne Reschke from her food service manager position, Steven Scheets from his custodial position, Brianna Hogan from her teaching assistant position, Ashley Hoppe from her teaching assistant position, Tia Gross from her elementary special education teaching position, Kari Mayer from her homecoming advisor position as presented.

The Board also approved the bus driver contracts for the 2023-2024 school year as presented, approved the support staff wage matrix as presented, approved the salary schedule for confidential staff as presented, and approved the teacher contracts for the 2023-2024 school year as presented.

The Board also approved the salary schedule for certified staff as presented, approved Jeremy LaMont as the assistant cross country coaching position as presented, approved the administrator contract for Marcy Kunze as presented, approved the administrator contract for Kory Poeschel as presented, approved the administrator contract for Craig Anderson as presented, and approved the administrator contract for John Gaier as presented.

The Board also heard the Administrators’ Report. Elementary Principal Marcy Kunze reported on:

  • Summer school scheduling;
  • 4-year-old kindergarten graduation;
  • State testing;
  • 4th grade presentation by the Clark County Health Department;
  • Elementary professional development;
  • Upcoming events;
  • Upcoming field trips;
  • And Star Lab.

Middle School Principal Kory Poeschel reported on:

  • Attendance;
  • Monthly character trait;
  • Internet safety presentation;
  • College days for kids;
  • State testing;
  • Summer school;
  • 2023-24 elective course registrations;
  • And future important dates.

High School Principal Craig Anderson reported on:

  • Attendance;
  • 2023-24 scheduling updates;
  • ACP updates;
  • STEM news;
  • FFA news;
  • Forensics updates;
  • Administrative assistants’ day;
  • Graduation-related information;
  • And a BLAST activity.
