The Clark County Chapter of the Friends of the Black River reminds residents to properly dispose of items they may be getting rid of while spring cleaning.

Spring is in the air and spring cleaning has begun. As we all start to declutter our homes and have those big items to deal with, the question becomes what do we do with it all?

There are options that don't include lugging that heavy couch, chair, or appliance out to your truck or trailer and then driving out to the river or woods and hefting into the ditch. (As show in the above picture).

If you are a Neillsville resident you can call Waste Management at 1-888-960-0008 to schedule a free curbside pick-up for those couches, chairs, beds, ect. Or you can visit the City of Neillsville website with more recycling information. https://neillsville-wi.com/public-works/.

For those old electronics and appliances in Clark County, you can check out Clark Recycling for prices here: http://www.clarkrecyclingwi.com/. Not sure what to do with those hazardous waste items?

The WI DNR has information at their website. https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/Waste/HouseholdHW.html Been successful on your last hunt or fishing trip? Not sure what to do with those carcasses?  The WI DNR can help. https://p.widencdn.net/eepbl8/2019CarcassDisposalFAQ.

There is no need to break your back dragging those items into the woods with all these options. And if you didn't find the information you need here, you can always call your local governing body for more information or programs in your area.

Plus, dumping fines can range from $50 to $2,000 and littering fines can range from $10 to $1,000.
