Spring Election Turnout in Marshfield 59%

Thursday, April 6th, 2023 -- 10:10 AM

The spring election voter turnout in the city limits of Marshfield was 59% turnout.

For comparison, in April 2021, there was a 21% turnout, and in April 2019 a 36% turnout, and even with a Mayoral race in 2022, we still only had a 40% turnout. After the Board of Canvassers meets Friday, April 7, 2023, at 9 a.m., in the Public Conference Room at City Hall, the next step will be the Organizational meeting on April 18, 2023, in the Common Council Chambers at 6:15 p.m. for the Oath of Office.

Andrew J. Reigel edged out Bonnie J. Andres by two votes, 257 to 255, to fill the seat of longtime Council member Peter Hendler in District 10. Derek Wehrman, District 2, Brian Varsho, District 4, and Rebecca Spiros, District 8, all uncontested will serve a two-year term on the Council, along with Russ Stauber, District 6, who won with ten write-in votes. The Public Safety Referendum failed by 71 votes, 2967 to 3038.

All results below are unofficial until the Board of Canvassers takes place. There is no automatic recount, but Bonnie Andres may request a recount after the Board of Canvassers meets on Friday.

Jessica Schiferl, City Clerk, thanks all the poll workers and volunteers who made this election a success and the kindness of all the voters who came out and exercised their right to vote.
