The Marshfield School District shares its appreciation for voters who engaged in discussions and voting on the April 4 referendum question, which was not approved based on unofficial results.

Preliminary election results on the question were 3,950 Yes to 5,425 No. The question asked voters to invest up to $99,500,000 to address district-wide needs at the high school, middle school, and elementary schools.

  • Building infrastructure
  • Major building systems
  • Site safety
  • Undersized & outdated learning spaces
  • Career & Tech Ed classrooms

The district spent over three years of facilities planning, including a facilities assessment, staff engagement, review by the Long-Range Facility Planning Committee comprised of community members, parents, staff, administration, and a community survey.

Although the referendum did not receive voter approval, the Marshfield School District staff, administration, and School Board express their sincere appreciation with the community for their feedback and engagement throughout the facilities planning process.

Regarding the referendum outcome, Marshfield School District Superintendent Dr. Ryan Christianson said, “We appreciate the feedback we received from voters on the proposed facility improvement projects. Though the April 4 facility referendum was not approved by voters, we remain positive about the future as we look ahead to getting back to work on how best to address the facility challenges that remain in the school district.”

While the aging infrastructure and building systems, site safety, and academic needs of the district remain, the School Board and district administration will take time to re-evaluate the proposed solution and will re-engage the community when the next steps are determined.

The district will continue to engage and inform the community throughout the next steps of the process. Community members are encouraged to continue to visit the district’s website at https://www.marshfieldschools.org for progress updates.
