GREENWOOD GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TEAM HEADED TO STATE

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007 -- 11:11 AM

The Greenwood Indian girls volleyball is heading to the State Tournament at the Resch Center in Green Bay this Friday morning with a Semi-Final match against Hillsboro at 10am. Greenwood is making their 2nd trip to State, the last one coming back in 1994 when their coach Jenni Mayenschein was a player. Hillsboro meanwhile is making their 5th straight appearance at State. This marks the 3rd year in a row that a representative from the Eastern Cloverbelt has made it to State ? Mosinee in 2005 and Division 3 Champions Stanley-Boyd last year. Greenwood was a four seed in the Rib Lake Regional but were able to knock off #1 seed Abbotsford, and #3 seed Athens in the Regional Final and then beat Lake Holcombe and Solon Springs in the Sectionals. There will be a send-off for the team at 9:45 am in the Greenwood High School Gym on Thursday morning with the team leaving at 10:30. The winners of the Semi-Finals on Friday morning would play in the Division 4 championship on Saturday morning at 10am.
