Summary of Some Clark and Wood County Contested April 4th Election Results

Janet Protasiewicz has been elected to the Wisconsin Supreme Court after yesterday’s elections.

Clark County voted as it usually does, leaning heavily into the Republican candidates. In Clark County, Protasiewicz received 3,110 votes to Daniel Kelly’s 5,343 votes. However, for the state, Protasiewicz received 1,021,330 votes to Daniel Kelly’s 818,182 votes.

For the state referendum questions, in Clark County the first question, regarding conditions of release before conviction, was approved 5,540 yes votes to 2,596 no votes. The second question, regarding cash bail before conviction, was approved with 5,739 yes votes to 2,434 no votes.

The third question, regarding work for welfare benefits, was approved with 7,391 yes votes to 914 no votes. For the state, the first question was approved with 1,025,771 yes votes to 490,661 no votes.

The second question was approved with 1,025,771 yes votes to 490,661 no votes. The third question was approved 1,224,071 yes votes to 314,299 no votes.  For Clark County Circuit Court Branch II, William Bratcher was elected as the new judge with 4,194 votes to Jake Brunette’s 3,972 votes.

For other contested Clark County races, Derek Weyer was voted to the Loyal School Board with 546 votes to Kim Bremmer’s 459 votes. The Loyal School District’s operational referendum was also passed with 600 yes votes to 495 no votes. The Neillsville School District’s building referendum was also passed with 1,364 yes votes to 744 no votes.

For Wood County, Timothy Gebert was voted as Branch IV Circuit Court Judge with 12,722 votes to Craig Lambert with 9,031 votes. For District 10 of the Marshfield Common Council, Andrew Reigel was voted to the Council with 231 votes to Bonnie Andres’ was 228 votes.

Of the four candidates running for the Marshfield School Board, the top two candidates voted to the Board include Tara Tremelling with 3732 votes and Mark Konrardy with 3,680 votes. Nicole Forst received 3,547 votes and Dan Neve received 3,244 votes.

Wood County residents approved the first state referendum question with 15,395 yes votes to 7,151 no votes. They approved the second state referendum question with 15,958 yes votes to 6,705 no votes.

They approved the third state referendum question with 20,091 yes votes to 2,942 no votes. The City of Marshfield’s Public Safety referendum failed with 2,925 no votes and 2,816 yes votes. The Marshfield School District’s building referendum failed with 4,531 voting no and 3,332 voting yes.
