Some Contested April 4th Election Races in Wood County

Monday, April 3rd, 2023 -- 11:00 AM

The April 4th Elections are tomorrow.

The main, state-wide race on the ballot is State Supreme Court judge between Democrat Janet Protasiewicz and Republican Dan Kelly. There are also three statewide referendum questions.

The first two, deal with a proposed constitutional amendment, would change how judges decide cash bail for people charged with violent crimes. If passed by voters, it would give judges more criteria to consider when imposing bail on a detained person.

The second, an advisory referendum, would ask the public's opinion on whether to require "childless, able-bodied adults" to search for employment while receiving public benefits.

For Wood County, they’ll also be voting for District 4 Appeals Court Judge. Chris Taylor is the only candidate for that seat. Wood County residents will also be voting for the Branch IV Circuit Court Judge between Timothy Gebert and Craig Lambert.

There are also contested county, villages/cities, school board races throughout Wood County. There are four candidates running for the Marshfield School Board and they are Tara Tremelling, Dan Neve, Nicole Forst, and Mark Konrardy. The top two will be voted to the Board.

Marshfield residents will also vote on the Public Safety Referendum for the City of Marshfield and the Marshfield School District’s building referendum. Those living in the Auburndale School District will also vote for their referendum to exceed the revenue limit by $600,000 for the next two school years.
