Third National Retailer Confirmed for Marshfield Mall

Friday, March 3rd, 2023 -- 10:01 AM

(Jamie Rokus, Marshfield News Herald) A third national retailer has confirmed its plans to open in the redeveloped Marshfield Mall.

According to Jamie Rokus with the Marshfield News Herald, Five Below will open a new store this summer, a company spokesperson told the Marshfield News-Herald this week. He did not have a specific opening date, but expects to have more information to share in April.

The head of the redevelopment project underway at the mall said in February plans are on track at the site and three new large retailers will move into the space once construction is complete.

City documents show a Hobby Lobby, Ross Dress for Less and Five Below included in the project. Hobby Lobby confirmed to the News-Herald in February they would be moving into the Marshfield Mall and said they anticipate opening in early 2024.

Ross Dress for Less also told the News-Herald last month they have signed a lease for the Marshfield location, but it is too early to announce an opening date. According to its website, Five Below is the leading value retailer of "trend-right, high-quality products loved by tweens, teens and beyond."

Most items in the store are priced between $1 and $5. Shoppers can find a variety of toys, games, gadgets, tech accessories, beauty supplies, arts and crafts, sports, home décor, household items, pet supplies, candy, snacks, books, party supplies and more.

Founded in 2002 and headquartered in Philadelphia, Five Below has over 1,300 stores in 42 states. The closest Five Below stores can be found in Oshkosh, Appleton and Green Bay.

Five Below also will be opening as part of redevelopment projects at the Dunham's Sports site on U.S. 10 East in Stevens Point and the former Wisconsin Rapids Shopko building.

Ned Brickman, president of Midland Management, the co-owner of the mall, told the News-Herald plans remain the same as those announced this summer for the mall redevelopment project, and the space will be ready this fall.

The redevelopment project will use the existing mall structure to create space for the retail stores, which will each have their own exterior entrances. Anchor stores Ashley Furniture, Kohl's and Harbor Freight will remain open.
