Greenwood School Board Approves Co-op Mascots and Colors

The Greenwood School Board approved the co-op colors and mascot at their meeting.

Co-op colors and mascot were discussed. Greenwood and Loyal co-op for some sports teams and other items, so a new co-op mascot and colors were needed. The Wolves mascot was the winner of the survey in both districts for the co-op team's name. Using the colors of gray, white and black and incorporating a red/maroon somewhere in the mascot were discussed and approved.

The Board also heard the AGR Report and approved the 2023-24 school calendar as presented. District Administrator Joe Green shared the January membership report data with the board and the Board approved the 2022-23 budget adjustments as presented.

The Board also heard an update regarding ESSER funds and approved the first reading on policy updates 32.1. The Board also approved to waive the fitness center fees for Greenwood Fire/EMS and any volunteers living in the Greenwood School District.

The Board also approved the hiring of Dean Lindner as Varsity Baseball Coach, Alex Volovsek as Assistant Baseball Coach, Abigail Bolf as Elementary Volleyball Coach, Hannah Rakovec as Elementary Volleyball Coach, Josh Probst as a Substitute Teacher, and Michele Green as a Teacher Mentor.

The Board also approved the FMLA for Shauna Eilts. The Board also approved the Chess Club overnight trip to UW-Oshkosh on March 18 & 19th, for competition.

The Board also heard various reports. Board Member Mark Shain reported on CESA #10 administrator hiring process. Board Member Jamie Gardner will finish Mark’s term on the CESA #10 Board.

Gardner also reported on the Buildings & Grounds meeting, with the topics including the Elementary Air Handler, the roof on the concession stand by the football field, and the high school gym roof repair.

The Board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Elementary Principal Lilly Shane reported on:

  • The Elementary Fundraiser having great sales;
  • Going to add Pi day to their special days next month;
  • Clark County Sensory Grant;
  • Staff has had SEL (Social-Emotional) training;
  • Looking at Fastbridge to replace iReady.

Athletic Director and Dean of Students Jenni Mayenschein reported on:

  • Hosting high school Forensics on 2/14;
  • Solo/Ensembles at Thorp last Saturday;
  • Valedictorian - Ashlee Hamm and Salutatorian - Rogan Travis announced;
  • Cloverbelt Scholars are Ashlee Hamm and Rogan Travis;
  • Cloverbelt Scholar/Athletes WIAA are Delaney Kirchner and Rogan Travis;
  • Spring concert will be March 13th;
  • An update on winter sports and possible spring sports was given;
  • Trap League information has been shared.

Finally, District Administrator Joe Green reported on:

  • The shared in-service on 2/10/23 about PLC’s;
  • Snow day make-ups;
  • 2023-24 school calendar & bell schedule;
  • Baird study has been processed;
  • Governor Ever’s Biennium Budget;
  • ACT Test for juniors;
  • Middle school skiing and movie;
  • April 10th Legislative Dinner in Medford.
