Area Residents May Need to Wait for COVID Vaccine Until Spring/Summer

Thursday, December 10th, 2020 -- 8:03 AM

(WDLB) -Area residents looking for a COVID-19 vaccination from Marshfield Clinic may have to wait into the late spring or early summer.

That's according to Clinical Quality Nurse Specialist Meranda Eggebrecht, who says initial vaccines will go to front-line health care workers and long-term care facilities.  Eggebrecht says the Clinic is not sure how many vaccine doses will be coming in the first batch later this month, but as a health system, they're excited about the opportunity to serve as a hub to distribute the vaccine to other agencies who will also administer inoculations.

Eggebrecht says Marshfield Clinic has enrolled 15 of its hospitals and clinics with the state as Phase 1-A Covid-19 vaccine administrators. Those include locations in Marshfield, Wisconsin Rapids, Wausau, Weston, Stevens Point, Colby, Neillsville, Merrill, Park Falls, Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, Rice Lake, Ladysmith, Minocqua and Beaver Dam.
