(Mike Leischner, WSAU) A Central Wisconsin native did not win this year's GRAMMY award for music educator of the year.
The Recording Academy announced Pamela Dawson of DeSoto, Texas as the recipient of this year's award. Dawson has been a choir instructor at DeSoto high school since 2007, and was one of ten finalists for this year's teacher GRAMMY.
That means it's wait until next year for Abbotsford native Marisa Frank, who studied at the Wausau Conservatory of Music and now teaches the art at the Explore Community School in Nashville, Tennessee.
It's not unheard of for a teacher to be nominated for the prestigious honor multiple times; this year was Dawson's third nomination.
