WOMAN INVOLVED IN LA CROSSE PROSTITUTION CASE IN COURT

The La Crosse woman at the center of a prostitution case involving a former Wood County official was in court Wednesday.Nicole Van Geertruy, 21, stands accused of agreeing to have sex for $200 in a La Crosse hotel room earlier this month.
James Gignac, who at the time was a County Board Supervisor from Wisconsin Rapids, allegedly called the woman seeking sex, he says he changed his mind, but gave her $200 anyway.
Gignac is also the former Wisconsin Rapids fire chief. Police say he was arrested after calling to report the incident, but no charges have been filed against him.
He resigned from the board after his arrest.
