CLARK CO. BOARD APPROVES $25,000 TO HELP TOWN OF MEAD

Monday, September 25th, 2006 -- 9:46 AM

The Clark County Board of Supervisors last night agreed to contribute $25,000 to the Town of Mead to assist them in replatting the area around Mead Lake.

The resolution, brought by District 13 Supervisor Al Bower, explains the Town has run into problems because the county-created plat done more than 50 years ago did not conform to the original plat.

The result of the confused property lines: roads, homes, out buildings and septic systems crossing boundaries.

Now the Town has hired an outside agency to fix the problems.

After some discussion, the resolution passed easily.

The supervisors also amended a County Board Rule pertaining to the role of the Planning and Zoning and Farmland Preservation Committee.

The change, pushed by Supervisor Bill Elmhorst, drops wording that described the committee as having the ?sole authority and power? to act in matters involving to planning and zoning. It also adds wording requiring county board direction before launching a comprehensive planning process.

The Board also increased land use permit fees from $10 to $150 for new construction and $75 for any other use. The increase will cover administrative costs and bring the County?s fees in line with surrounding counties.
