A bill authored by an area state representative might cost more ? a lot more ? than originally thought.JSonline reports Rep. Scott Suder?s bill requiring lifetime satellite monitoring of sex offenders will cost $23.7 million in its first two years - and much more in future years as the number of offenders grows.
Suder says the Legislative Fiscal Bureau estimated it would cost only around $3.5-million over the next two years, leaving himr to question the latest figures released in the Department of Corrections budget.
The department estimated it will track around 581 convicted sex offenders during the first year and 956 the second year of the proposed biennium budget.
