AMERICAN FAMILY WARNS OF POSSIBLE SECURITY PROBLEM

American Family Insurance is warning the clients of a Madison-based agent to be wary of identity theft after computer equipment was stolen in a burglary.American Family spokesperson Steve Witmer says, despite reports to the contrary, only the identities of customers of Madison-area agent Ed Flynn might be at risk ? and even they are still fairy secure.
The state's biggest insurer of homes and vehicles mailed letters to more than two-thousand customers alerting them to the theft at the office of an insurance agent.
Of most concern is a stolen laptop that has customers' Social Security numbers and driver's license numbers.
Witmer says the thief also made off with other items, including cameras, leading officials to believe he wasn?t after the personal information. Still, they?re recommending Flynn?s customers contact credit-reporting agencies for information on identity theft protections.
