Neillsville School Board Approves Several Items

The Neillsville School Board heard a presentation from Chelsea Opelt and members of the elementary student council.

The Board then approved the School Spirit program for checking accounts with Unity Bank as presented. Lance Gregorich from CESA 10 provided referendum survey information and Building and Grounds Director Mark Spencer presented a building projects update.

The Board also approved the donation of clothing, shoes, and health items from Anne Reschke as presented and approved the monetary donation in the amount of $385, as well as mittens and facial tissues from the Jackson County Retired Teachers Association as presented.

In employment matters, the Board approved the retirement of Jill Reinart from her custodial position as presented and the retirement of Jennifer Pagenkopf from her teaching assistant position as presented.

The Board also approved the resignation of Bryce DeSmet from his middle school football coaching position as presented. The Board also approved the hiring of Chelsea Opelt for the head volleyball coaching position as presented.

The Board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Board members received a written report from Elementary Principal Marcy Kunze on:

  • Attendance;
  • PBIS;
  • Instruction;
  • Field trips;
  • Elementary sing-a-long;
  • And the winter concert.

Board members received a written report from Middle School Principal Kory Poeschel on:

  • Attendance;
  • Monthly character trait;
  • Concerts;
  • Assessments;
  • Sports;
  • FFA activities;
  • 6th grade field trip and activities;
  • Middle school dance;
  • FOR Club update;
  • Student holiday readings with WCCN;
  • And the annual give and take tree.

Board members received a written report from High School Craig Anderson on:

  • Attendance;
  • High school music updates;
  • Schuster Park light project;
  • Trunk Junk Clean Out;
  • The Society of Women Engineers recipients;
  • 2023- 2024 scheduling;
  • And high school student restrooms.

District Administrator John Gaier reported on:

  • The new district app;
  • A social media page update;
  • An article from WCCN regarding school report cards;
  • Schools Administrators Alliance website update;
  • WASB Convention flyer;
  • Revenue limit per pupil;
  • Email from Gary Veltus;
  • And the NIC agenda.
