(Wisconsin Ag Connection) New estimates from the USDA give us an indication of what counties produced the most winter wheat and oat crops during the past growing season.

According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, the agency says Dodge County was the largest winter wheat producing county in Wisconsin during 2022 with about 1.3 million bushels. Fond du Lac and Dodge Counties were second and third, respectively.

Dane County was the highest yielding county at 89.2 bushels per acre. Ozaukee County had the next highest yields for winter wheat at 86.6. Marinette County had the lowest yield in the state at 59.3 bushels per acre.

Meanwhile, Langlade County was the largest oat-producing county with 537,000 bushels. Marathon County was second with 334,000 bushels harvested.

Langlade and Outagamie Counties tied for the highest yield in the state for oats with 93.7 bushels per acre, followed by Brown County with 88.9. Taylor County ranked lowest for oat yield last summer at 51.6 bushels per acre.
