Granton School Board Discusses School Safety Requirement Checklist

The Granton School Board discussed the School Safety Requirement Checklist at their meeting.

The Board approved the Wisconsin Act 143 School Safety Requirement Checklist for the 2022-23 school year. The Board also approved the start of a Granton High School clay target shooting/trap league team, accepted the bid of $338,776.90 from Marawood Construction Services for the lower parking lot, and approved the resolution to waive the September 1st school start date for the 2023-24 school year and have school start on August 22, 2023.

The Board also approved the purchase of .62 acres of land from Eric & Meghan Naedler for $3,720, calculated at a rate of $6,000 per acre and approved accepting the $1,885,000 grant from the Environmental Protection Agency for 5 news buses and charging infrastructure.

Following a closed session, Kimberlee Menke received a letter of appointment as a teacher aide. Also, the Board accepted a letter of resignation from Caroline Walter, teacher aide, and thanked her for her years of service.

The Board also accepted a letter of resignation from Joe Andrashie, bookkeeper, and thanked him for his years of service. The Board also approved Blair Necas as the JV Boys Basketball Coach.

During the Spotlight on Education, information was presented on the Mental Health Day presentation held on December 7th. Also, District Administrator James Kuchta and Principal Amanda Kraus gave a brief overview of the School Report Card.

Granton received a District Report Card overall score of Exceeds Expectations. Granton Elementary received an overall score of Exceeds Expectations and Granton High School received an overall score of Meets Expectations.

More detailed information will be presented next month at the January school board meeting. For the Students of the Month, the September Characteristic/Trait Focus was kindness.

The Students of the Month were Brynleigh Vine for the Elementary, Perpetua Thomas for the Middle School, and Ashley Hensiak for the High School. Kimberly Ganther is the Staff Person of the Month.

Student Council Representative Kennedy Young reported on:

  • FFA fruit sale orders;
  • FFA work with Christmas Angel Project;M
  • ental health awareness speaker;
  • Visioneers ornament making night;
  • Band and choir field trip to see Elf the Musical;
  • And Christmas concert dates.

Principal Amanda Kraus updated the board regarding:

  • Open Campus;
  • Holiday concert season;
  • And Coffee Klatch with administration.

Superintendent James Kuchta updated the board on:

  • Information including AED's have been replaced in the school building;
  • New van update;
  • WASB State Convention registration;
  • And a Mental Health Day.
