WOMAN BOUND OVER ON HOMICIDE CHARGES

A 22-year-old Dorchester woman, who authorities say was driving drunk at the time of an accident that killed her mother, was bound over for trial on a charge of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle.Authorities say Megan Redding?s blood-alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit when the car she was driving spun on a curve and hit a tree outside of Colby in March. 47-year-old Laura Redding died at the scene of the crash.
During a preliminary hearing yesterday, Assistant District Attorney Dick Lewis relied on testimony from Deputy Todd Weich of the Clark County Sheriff?s Department. He was dispatched to the scene of the crash. He said he came across a red vehicle with extensive damage. Megan Redding was behind the wheel, while her mother was partially ejected and deceased on the passenger?s side.
Weich said he talked with Megan Redding in the Emergency Room of St. Joseph?s Hospital in Marshfield. She appeared intoxicated and said ?I know I have it coming?, referring to drunk driving charges.
After the brief hearing, defense attorney Michael Cohen conceded the state had met their burden of proof to bind over the case.
Judge Jon Counsell agreed, setting the trial date for November 1st.
Redding faces up to 50 years in prison.
