(Karen Madden, Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune) -Long-time practicing attorney Timothy Gebert plans to run for election as the first judge of the newly created Wood County Branch 4 Circuit Court.
The Wisconsin Supreme Court named Wood County as one of four counties that will receive an additional circuit court branch. Clark County also will get an additional court branch, which will give that county two judges. The initial election for Wood County's fourth judge and Clark County's second will take place in spring 2023. The judges' terms will begin Aug. 1.
Wood County District Attorney Craig Lambert said on Nov. 11 that he plans to run for the newly created Branch 4 position, setting up the potential for a contested election with at least two candidates.
