Harvest Winding Down in Wisconsin

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) The 2022 crop harvest is winding down across the Badger State.

According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, the Wisconsin Ag Statistics Service issued one of its final crop/weather reports of the season on Monday, which noted that above average temperatures last week allowed farmers to continue fall tillage and manure applications.

Topsoil moisture condition levels were rated two percent very short, 16 percent short, 75 percent adequate and seven percent surplus. The corn for grain harvest is 71 percent complete, just over a week behind last year, but two days ahead of the five-year average. Moisture content of corn was 19 percent.

All but six percent of the winter wheat has emerged, with the crop rated 84 percent good to excellent statewide. And fall tillage was 71 percent complete. That was similar to last year's progress, but over two weeks ahead of normal.
