Neillsville School Board Approves Final Tax Levy for Current School Year

The Neillsville School Board approved the final tax levy for the current school year.

The final tax levy of $3,253,582 for the 2022-2023 school year was approved. Neillsville Police Chief Jim Mankowski also led an open discussion regarding incidents during homecoming week.

Lance Gregorich from CESA 10, and Building and Grounds Director Mark Spencer, presented a building projects update. The Board then approved the bid from Werner Electric for electrical upgrades in the amount of $66,020.78.

The Board also approved the Achievement Gap Reduction plan as presented and approved the Start College Now applications as presented. The Board also approved the donation of 15 teacher kits and 15 student backpacks with supplies from Cummins as presented and approved the donation of clothing and shoes for students in need from Russell’s of Neillsville as presented.

In employment matters, the Board approved the resignation of Tim M. Voigt from his girls’ volleyball coaching position as presented. The Board also approved the hiring of Jacob Bue for the custodian position as presented and approved the hiring of Sara Warren as the Creative Writing Club advisor as presented.

The Board also approved the bonus in the amount of $1,500 for the custodial and maintenance staff as presented and approved the 2022-2023 Certified Staff Handbook revisions as presented.

The Board also approved the initial adoption of policy EFF as presented, approved the initial adoption of policy GCE as presented, and approved the initial adoption of policy GDPC as presented.

The Board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Elementary Principal Marcy Kunze reported on:

  • Character trait reward for September;
  • Reading instruction;
  • Field trips;
  • Walk to school day;
  • And substitute teacher shortage.

Middle School Principal Kory Poeschel reported on:

  • Attendance;
  • Parent/teacher conferences;

  • Chorus concert;
  • And the October 7 th in-service day.

High School Principal Craig Anderson reported on:

  • Attendance;
