Granton School Board Approves Early Graduation Request

The Granton School Board approved the early graduation request as recommended by administration.

The Board also approved the Early College Credit & Start College Now applications as presented, approved the Third Friday Count September Membership Report as presented, and approved administration's recommendation for an Owner's Representative Agreement, with CESA 10, for building improvements and the proposal from Professional Design Services/Wendel Companies as the architect.

The board also approved the updates to the Granton Area School District Employee Handbook as discussed and, after a closed session, noted that new employees: Sam Modjewski, Cheyenne Bump, and Brooke Hainz received letters of appointment as new child care workers.

For the Spotlight on Education, information was presented on the CTE (Career & Technical Education Program including the Heavy Metals Tour Granton Students participated in at businesses in Marshfield and Stratford.

For Students of the Month, September’s Characteristic/Trait focus was Compassion. Ava Bangart is the Elementary Student of the Month, Priscila Ortiz for the Middle School, and Diego Mendoza for the High School. Tammie Cramer was selected for Staff of the Month.

Student Council Representative Tori Seif reported on volleyball parent night, FFA fruit sale, FFA Haunted Forest, FFA National Convention, NHS Blood Drive, and costume contest for Halloween. The Board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Principal Amanda Kraus updated the board regarding:

  • Get Kids Ahead Grant;
  • The Staff received ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) Training for Active Shooter Preparedness;
  • And UWSP Partnership and collaboration for an OST (Out of School Time) Grant.

Superintendent James Kuchta updated the board on information including:

  • RVA Governance Board meeting;
  • Granton Community Child Care Center (GCCCC) Grants update;
  • MOU (Memo of Understanding) for a Nurse Grant through CESA 10.
