UW Health: Impending Nurses' Strike "Disappointing."

Monday, August 29th, 2022 -- 9:02 AM

(Terry Bell, WRN) Officials with U-W Health say hundreds of nurses likely won’t get their demands met by going on strike.

99-percent of U-W Health nurses voted earlier this week to go on strike for three days in mid-September to get their union recognized. The nurses say they’ve dealt with understaffing, exhaustion, and burnout for years, made worse by the coronavirus pandemic.

They say if U-W Health recognizes the union, nurses will have a greater say in hospital policies. But a U-W Health spokesperson says the hospital is disappointed by news of the strike, and that a strike will only harm patients.
