Wisconsin's Egg Production for July

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) Wisconsin egg production during July was 20 percent lower than last year, according to the latest USDA Chickens and Eggs report, according to the Wisconsin Ag Connection.

However, output was eight percent higher for the month. The average number of all layers on hand during the past month was 5.50 million, down 22 percent from last July, but up four percent from June.

Eggs per 100 layers were 2,641. Nationally, egg production totaled 9.00 billion in July, which was three percent lower than 2021. Production included 7.69 billion table eggs, and 1.31 billion hatching eggs, of which 1.22 billion were broiler-type and 90.7 million were egg-type.

The average number of layers totaled 368 million. Meanwhile, the total number of layers in the country as of August 1 totaled 369 million, down four percent from last year.
