Wisconsin Senators Vote in Favor of Veterans' Medical Aid Expansion

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2022 -- 10:20 AM

(Raymond Neupert, WRN) Both of Wisconsin's senators have voted to pass an expansion for veterans' medical benefits.

The PACT Act will provide more funding for veterans exposed to toxic chemicals and burn pits in Iraq and Afghanistan. The bill passed the Senate Tuesday night on a vote of 86 to 11. Both Democrat Tammy Baldwin and Republican Ron Johnson voted in favor.

Last week, Johnson held up passage of the bill alongside fellow Republicans who objected to how the money would be earmarked for the bill. Baldwin and veterans rights groups criticized Republicans for playing politics with veterans' medical care.
