Storms Hits Southern & Eastern Wisconsin

Sunday, July 24th, 2022 -- 7:26 AM

The local area was spared from the brunt of severe weather Saturday. The southern and eastern parts of the state were not so fortunate.

In LaCrosse there was street flooding and trees down after over 3 inches of rain fell and 60 mph winds swept through.

In Oshkosh a small aircraft was flipped into a tree after a wind gust of over 60 mph was reported.

In Sauk County at Mirror Lake State park a young boy was indirectly stuck by lightning while sitting in a campsite when a nearby tree was stuck.

A late round of storms produced large hail in the Madison area last night.

Lightning forced the delay of the Wisconsin State Water Ski Championships in Wiscosnin Rapids. The event will conclude this morning.

Lightning stuck at tree in Stevens Point igniting a house roof. Damage was minimal according to the Stevens Point Fire Department.

Wausau was forced to cancel their 150th Anniversary Celebration yesterday after heavy rain left the stage in standing water.
